Since the Health Results Innovation Trust Fund (HRITF) was created at the end of 2007, with generous support from the Governments of Norway and the United Kingdom, RBF has been helping improve access and quality of health services for women and children in the poorest countries. HRITF’s portfolio has expanded. We were happy to share this Progress Report from 2013, which outlines the successes, challenges, and lessons learned over the course of five years, as part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and improving development effectiveness. Final results from impact evaluations were largely outstanding, but program operational data indicated improvements in coverage and quality of maternal and child health services across the different countries. The portfolio's experience to that point indicated that RBF approaches can help to strengthen core health systems, making them more accountable and delivering greater value for money, by shifting the focus from inputs to results.
