Accelerating Progress: Saving Women's and Children's Lives in The Coming Decade

The Global Campaign for the Health Millennium Development Goals was initiated by Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg of Norway in 2007.

The campaign brings together a number of actions and initiatives all aimed at fulfilling the promises given by world leaders in the Millennium Declaration in 2000.

The report has interesting contributions from a variety of organizations on activities they are pursuing and a thematic article on the progress on MDG 4 and 5.

Burundi Invests in Safer Births

Until recently, women in Burundi's Batwa community didn't give birth in health facilities, but at home, where they died of complications too often. But women like Denise Ntakirutimana now benefit from a program that pays health facilities for delivery of quality maternal and child health services.
