Investing in Every Woman, Child and Adolescent to Survive and Thrive by 2030:
An Every Woman Every Child high-level event with the launch of the
Global Financing Facility

Hosted by UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon

The Global Financing Facility in support of Every Woman Every Child - a partnerships based financing mechanism and potential pathfinder for post-2015 financing - will be officially launched, alongside the showcasing of innovative and transformative financing approaches that will contribute to delivering results for the updated Global Strategy for Women's, Children's and Adolescents' Health and the Sustainable Development Goals.

The event is co-organized by the Governments of Canada, Norway and the United States, and the World Bank Group.

No ticket is required to attend this event, but participants must already be accredited for the conference through the UN

Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General, United Nations

Ban Ki-moon is the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations. His priorities have been to mobilize world leaders around a set of new global challenges, from climate change and economic upheaval to pandemics and increasing pressures involving food, energy and water. He has sought to be a bridge-builder, to give voice to the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people, and to strengthen the Organization itself. The Secretary-General was born in the Republic of Korea on 13 June 1944. He received a bachelor's degree in international relations from Seoul National University in 1970. In 1985, he earned a master's degree in public administration from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

Jim Yong Kim, President, The World Bank Group

Jim Yong Kim, is the twelfth President of the World Bank Group. A physician and anthropologist, Dr. Kim has dedicated himself to international development for more than two decades, helping to improve the lives of under-served populations worldwide. Dr. Kim comes to the Bank after serving as President of Dartmouth College, a pre-eminent center of higher education that consistently ranks among the top academic institutions in the United States. Dr. Kim is a co-founder of Partners In Health (PIH) and a former director of the HIV/AIDS Department at the World Health Organization (WHO). He holds a M.D. at Harvard Medical School in 1991, and a PhD in anthropology at Harvard University.
