These are summaries of sections 1, 2, and 5 of the book Performance-Based Contracting for Health Services in a Developing Country.

Sections 1 and 2 - describe the definition and basic aspects of "performance-based contracting" and some points to determine whether it should be used.

Section 5 - uses examples from Afghanistan and Haiti to show country experiences when determining whether to contract. A chart shows common concerns about contracting and highlights the real-life experience of dealing with those concerns.
