About the Health Results Innovation Trust Fund (HRITF)
The HRITF is a multi-donor trust fund created by the World Bank in 2007 to support RBF approaches in the health sector for achievement of the health-related MDGs ─ particularly MDGs 1c, 4 and 5. Current donors include the Governments of Norway and the United Kingdom, with commitments totaling US$550 million through 2022. The HRITF works with development partners and client countries to build and use country systems.
Aims of the HRITF:
- Support design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of RBF mechanisms
- Develop and disseminate the evidence base for implementing successful RBF mechanisms
- Build country institutional capacity to scale up and sustain the RBF mechanisms, with the national health strategy and system
- Attract additional financing to the health sector
Types of Support:
Country Pilot Grants to provide financial support for design, implementation and evaluation to country programs funded by the World Bank’s International Development Association (IDA). They are prepared and supervised within the World Bank’s operational framework, ensuring regional and country management oversight and rigorous design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation support.
Knowledge and Learning Grants to support technical dialogue and learning around RBF design and implementation in IDA eligible countries.
Evaluation Grants to support RBF program evaluation efforts to learn from successful (and unsuccessful) experiences from around the world, while contributing to local and global evidence-based policy-making.
